Aine Ni Dhroighneain Áine Ní Dhroighneáin - Vocals While growing up in an Spidéal, Áine was was
surrounded by many fine singers including Síle Tim Ní Fhlaithearta, Mairéad Ní Fhlaithearta, and
Tomás Ó Neachtain. Her interest in the tradition started. Aged eight she started attending singing classes at An
Gaelcadamh, Her first Oireachtas was at the tender age of fifteen, where she went on to win the Corn
Faoi-18. Although Áine has yet to make a full recording of
her songs, she is highly regarded in sean-nós circles. She has contributed to many of TG4’s music programmes including
Abair Amhrán. Also, as an actor, you would see her regularly on popular programmes including Ros na Rún, and
Rásaí na Gaillimhe. Her most recent project is ‘Burn the Red Lamp’ – A theatrical piece combining
both puppets and real actors. It’s adapted from the short story by Kevin Barry, which will be part of
Galway’s Cúirt Festival programme this year. |
