Carmina Dublin Launch
of Carmina's new album 'My Crescent City' produced by Donal Lunny. Joining them for the concert is Richie
Buckley (Sax)The Carmina band boasts some big names on the British and Irish jazz scene as well as two young stars of
Irish Traditional music. Singer and songwriter Pippa Marland has ''a wondrous voice, capable of enchanting and
emoting'' ('Time Out', UK) and also adds alto sax and whistles to the mix of instruments. She and
masterful arranger and songwriter Rob King (acoustic guitar, bodhrán), compose the songs around which the band
weave their magic. The line-up includes Geoff Castle (keyboards); Diarmaid Moynihan (uilleann pipes, whistles); Brian Morrissey (bodhrán, banjo, whistles); and long-time Carmina guest, Irish sax maestro Richie Buckley. Dónal Lunny produced their new album and also guested on bouzouki, acoustic guitar, bodhrán and backing
vocals; in a recent 'Irish Times' interview Donal described the Carmina's music ''very, very
sweet - and they’re brilliant musicians!'' (Dónal Lunny, 'Irish Times' 2007)
