Music, story and song from five of Irelands top folk acts.With a wonderful selection of songs by composers such as Marty Robbins, Tom Paxton, Jesse Winchester, Tommy Scott, Joni Mitchell, Johnny Cash, Stephen Foster, Chuck Berry, Stocktons Wing, Woody Guthrie etc. combined with their own arrangements of great traditional tunes is realy is a feast of folk music.
The five artists will all be well-known to folk music fans and this chance to see them all
on the same stage presents an opportunity not to be missed.
Eleanor Shanley is one of Ireland's foremost singers. She is renowned for her
unique interpretation of Irish and roots songs. Eleanor has recorded with De Danann, Ronnie Drew, Sharon Shannon, Dolores Keane, The Dubliners, Tommy Fleming and many others. She has recorded many solo albums, among them "Desert Heart", "Eleanor Shanley", "A Place of My Own" and "A Couple More Years" with Ronnie Drew.
Brendan Begley is bursting with the wild and beautiful music of West Kerry.
As a singer he is a gentle giant. On the accordion, he is a force of nature.
He has three acclaimed solo albums to his name, as well as numerous recordings with the groups Boys of the Lough and Beginish. He is featured on two albums by the Chieftains (The Long Black Veil and The Bells of Dublin).
Frankie Lane. Original front man of the legendary Fleadh Cowboys, is one
of Ireland?s best-known performers of country rock, western swing music
and a traditional musician of international renown.
Mike Hanrahan. Wrote all six songs on Stockton's Wing’s ground breaking and
critically acclaimed Album LIGHT IN THE WESTERN SKY including hit songs BEAUTIFUL AFFAIR
and WALK AWAY.
Mike has appeared at all major European Folk Festivals. Collaborated With Bella Fleck,
The Dubliners and Maura O connell and even Val Doonican on recordings, live shows and TV specials.
Paul Kelly. Experienced multiinstrumentalist, has performed with The
Fleadh Cowboys, The Sharon Shannon Band and Jerry Fish and The Mudbug
Club amongst many others.
