Ger Wolfe

Cork born in 1969, Ger eats and breathes music, releasing and touring 9 albums of his own work since 1995. His most recent is ‘The Morning Star’ released in 2021 during the lockdown. Working mainly in contemporary and traditional folk and sean nós, his best-loved song is ‘The Curra Road’, first championed on national radio by the broadcaster John Creedon. Ger is always busy writing new work and is also currently working on an album of traditional songs in the Irish language, (as Gaeilge).

Ger Wolfe

A gentle and consistent voice for many years on the Irish folk-roots scene, singer-songwriter Ger Wolfe has a subtle way of weaving his musical magic into the heart of the listener.

Spirited and heartfelt music, all at once lyrical, melodic and poetic, prepare to be bedazzled by his unmistakable voice and inimitable guitar playing.

“He plays serious music with a subversive twist. Defying mediocrity, this Cork-born folk-rebel gently but powerfully delivers ‘carefully crafted vignettes of song’ to all who come to listen.”

Irish Times

His songs have been covered by many artists such as Niamh Varian-Barry, Karan Casey, Fiona Kelleher, Irish-American band SOLAS, Sharon Shannon with Mike Mc Goldrick and many others. He is currently recording a new album of traditional songs as Gaeilge; ‘Songs from the Ballyvourney Collection/Amhráin ó mBaile Mhúirne’ with support from the Art’s Council.

“Ger has toured solo and with his band ‘The New Skylarks’ since the late 90’s building a solid body of work including 9 full albums of original song. Featuring on numerous radio and TV shows including ‘Other Voices’. Championed by broadcaster John Creedon from the very first with the glorious ‘Curra Road’ which is surely becoming ‘a folk standard’.”

’Ger’s newest and ninth album release “The Morning Star” was half-released and almost smothered in the fog of the Covid lockdowns but is finally getting the proper airing it deserves.

Don’t miss the chance to meet and hear the ‘Lark of Mayfield’ himself on tour as he soars far and beyond his beloved ‘Curra Road’.

“What a sweet and original voice.”
